Wegovy Pill 1.5 mg, 30 Tablets: A Medically Supervised Start to Weight Management

Wegovy Pill 1.5 mg, an oral weight loss medication, is the once-daily starting dose of oral semaglutide, a prescription GLP-1 receptor agonist used together with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity in adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related health conditions. At Al Thiqa Pharmacy, the medication is dispensed only after a valid prescription is verified, and it is paired with clinical follow-up and nutrition and lifestyle coaching through Wazin program. Sustainable progress comes from the combination, not from the tablet alone.

Quick-facts box:

  • Active ingredient: semaglutide 1.5 mg per tablet
  • Pack: 30 tablets (one month at the starting dose)
  • Dosing: one tablet daily, then wait at least 30 minutes before food, drinks or other oral medicines
  • Status: prescription-only; regulator-approved in the UAE (EDE, June 2026)
  • Maintenance dose: 25 mg daily after step-up

How GLP-1 medications work

Semaglutide mimics GLP-1, a gut hormone released after meals. It acts in three main ways:

  • Appetite signals: it acts on appetite centres in the brain so you feel full sooner and have fewer cravings.
  • Gastric emptying: it slows how fast the stomach empties, so fullness lasts longer.
  • Blood sugar regulation: it helps the pancreas release insulin when glucose is high and lowers glucagon, which is why people with diabetes need glucose monitoring when starting.

How to take it

  • Take one tablet at the same time each day, swallowed whole with a small sip of plain water, on an empty stomach.
  • Wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking other oral medicines; otherwise absorption may drop.
  • Missed a dose? Skip it and take the next dose the following day. Do not double up.

Who is an eligible candidate

Suitability is always decided by a licensed prescriber. Typical criteria for adults (18+) are:

  • BMI of 30 kg/m² or higher (obesity), or BMI of 27 kg/m² or higher (overweight) with at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, abnormal cholesterol, sleep apnoea, or established heart disease. Calculate your BMI.
  • Commitment to a reduced-calorie diet and regular physical activity

Not suitable, or needs specialist advice:

  • Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma
  • Allergy to semaglutide or any ingredient
  • Pregnancy, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • History of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, severe digestive disease or diabetic eye disease
  • Taking other GLP-1 or GIP/GLP-1 medicines, or oral drugs with a narrow dosing window (for example warfarin-type anticoagulants or levothyroxine): the prescriber must review these

Medical supervision and safety protocol

  1. Clinical evaluation: medical history, current medicines, BMI, blood pressure, and relevant labs by a licensed doctor (free teleconsultation available).
  2. Prescription verification: a pharmacist validates the prescription, dose, and interactions before dispensing.
  3. Counselling at dispensing: how to take the tablet, what to expect, when to call.
  4. Scheduled follow-ups: tolerability, weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose (if diabetic) are reviewed before each dose step-up.
  5. Side effect plan: most gastrointestinal effects ease over time. Eat smaller, lower-fat meals, stay hydrated, and stop eating when full.
