Uses

Gaviscon Oral Suspension is used for the relief of:

• Acid reflux

• Heartburn and burning sensation in chest or throat

• Indigestion after meals

• Acid regurgitation

• Discomfort after fatty or spicy foods

• Symptoms during pregnancy (with medical advice)

How It Works

• Alginate forms a thick, durable “raft” that sits on top of stomach contents.

• Bicarbonate and calcium carbonate neutralize excess stomach acid.

• The raft barrier prevents upward flow of acid into the esophagus, reducing irritation and discomfort.

Dosage & Administration

Adults and children 12+ years:

• 10–20 ml after meals and at bedtime.

Children 6–12 years:

• 5–10 ml after meals and at bedtime.

• Use only with medical guidance.

Important:

• Take strictly after meals and before bedtime for best effectiveness.

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Do not take on an empty stomach, as it may reduce the formation of the protective raft.

Precautions & Warnings

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.

• Consult a doctor before using if you:

  • Have kidney problems

  • Are on a low-sodium or low-calcium diet

  • Have high calcium levels

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

• Leave a 2-hour gap between Gaviscon and other oral medications (it may affect absorption).

• Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

• If symptoms persist longer than 7 days, seek medical advice.

• Store below 30°C.

• Keep tightly closed.

• Do not refrigerate or freeze.

• Protect from sunlight.

• Keep out of reach of children.
