Our lifestyle varies in the summer and the activities we do vary, for example, we spend a lot of time outside the house in the sun and go to visit different parks and beaches. There is no magical solution or product to have healthy skin in the summer. However, you should pay special attention to some skin issues that may arise during the summer, and you should sometimes update your routine.

Tips to prevent sunburn

Our skin is exposed to the sun and various factors in the summer cause us to suffer from many problems such as sunburn. Most of us have certainly experienced the damage and pain of sunburn caused by excessive exposure to UV rays. Sunburns affect your skin health dramatically; they can cause skin cancer! The following simple steps can help you take care of your skin and protect you from getting sunburn:

  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun when the sun is hottest, between 11 am and 3 pm.
  • Drink plenty of water and fluids to keep yourself hydrated.

  • Check the validity of the sunscreen. Most sunscreens have a shelf life of two to three years and have an expiration date starting from the day the package was opened.
  • Use enough sunscreen. For example, you will need to apply approximately two teaspoons of sunscreen to cover the head, arms and neck, and two tablespoons to cover the entire body while wearing a swimsuit.
  • Wear hats and sunglasses because sunscreens do not provide 100% protection.

Prevention of insect bites

Visiting parks and many times outside exposes you to insect bites that may cause some serious diseases or rashes that may cause you discomfort. It can be prevented by following the following tips:

  • Use insect repellent. To protect against mosquitoes, ticks and other insects
  • Use insect repellent on skin and exposed clothing.
  • Follow the instructions written on the packaging.
  • Apply sunscreen first, let it dry, and then apply insect repellent.
  • Wear appropriate clothing.
  • Cover exposed skin as much as possible by wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, socks and closed shoes.
